Oslo kontaktimpro

Oslo Kontaktimpro (OKI) hosts jams and workshops in contact improvisation in the Oslo region.

What is contact improvisation?

Contact improvisation is a partner dance form based on the physical principles of touch, momentum, shared weight, and following a shared point of contact. Contact improv was founded in the 70s by Steve Paxton who developed this dance form based on his background as a modern dancer and his studies in aikido. Contact improv explores the skills of falling, rolling, counterbalance, lifting using minimal effort, how to make ourselves light when being lifted, and responsiveness to our partners and surroundings. It can be practiced by all ages and physical capabilities.
